The Cause of Everything: The Greed of Richard
- Demons treat human life force as an important resource. The dungeons, which they can create, are designed to lure in humans with treasure as bait and harvest their life force. There is something originating from humans that is fatal to demons(I didn’t decide what it is), so they hide in their realm and protect themselves. Because of this, the human world does not know that demons are the ones behind the creation of dungeons.
- Life force is also required to operate a dungeon, from converting and expanding spaces, creating and managing monsters, to generating treasure. Once life force is supplied, the Dungeon Core operates on its own. If the yield is not good for the life force put in use is poor, the dungeon could be closed. That's what happened with the dungeon next to Middlesea island.
- Richard is a corrupt noble of the demon realm who amassed life force through illicit means and needed a way to launder it. He was also the master of the dungeon next to Middlesea. Since Middlesea had become a base for adventurers, he suffered significant losses and treated the island as a thorn in his side.
- It was originally forbidden since it could expose the connection between demons and dungeons, but Richard sent a Core at Middlesea and turned it into a dungeon, and prevented access to the space itself. (This is the event that occured in 1-1.) The entire island was transported in a pocket dimension, making it inaccessible except through a portal. In the outside world, it is believed that the island was destroyed by a disaster.
- In short, Middlesea is a dungeon created for money laundering. Therefore, there was no need to attract many adventurers. That's why the dungeon portal opens in a strange location.
- Richard illegally modified the Core to falsify positional data and life force output figures, which caused a malfunction. As a result, the sequence of terraforming the space, monsterifying the inhabiting lives, and then binding them to their master was disrupted and the transformation is continuing. Furthermore, the Core, which should only be visible to demon eyes (that’s why its existence isn't known to the human world), is now visible to the residents of Middlesea, who retain their free will despite being turned into monsters.
Act 1~3
- The Dungeon Core lands in Middlesea, dungeonifies the whole island, and turns the residents and animals living there into monsters. The residents wakes up one by one.
- While Paige figuring out the state of the village and its residents, Ian investigates the Dungeon Core and reports to Edega on the evening Cole wakes up. According to Ian's findings, the Dungeon Core did not fully activate all its mechanisms, which is fortunate, but it isn't completely broken either. The transformation will continue to worsen, and it must be stopped before that happens. The Core incorporates a surprisingly advanced level of magitech, so more research is needed to understand it further. The goal is to apply the reverse of this object's principles to, or at least undo the transformation. Destroying the Core doesn't guarantee the residents will return to normal so keep it as it is for now. (At this point, it has not yet been discovered that anyone who enters is also affected.)
- Edega’s order: If the transformation continues until residents lose their humanitt and start attacking humans, a subjugation team will be dispatched and we'll be finished. That must not happen. The existence of this village must also be hidden to ensure safety.
- Several episodes of daily life across a number of episodes. Ian's research progress is also depicted at the end of each episode.
- A kind of management system is extracted from inside the Core, and Ian modifies it and puts in Ian's automaton for study. (It was made hurriedly, and only the hands were finished.) This is what becomes Intern in the original game. That is the first step toward reverse-engineering the Core.
- As same as in the original game, music is used in the treatment, and they are very slowly reverting to human form.
- Paige is making the rounds to check on everyone's condition, and Edega, for some reason, pressing and overworking both Ian and Paige. There is a hint that something connected to Edega's past is involved.
- In place of Connectifia Abortus, the phenomenon which monster’s instincts burst out happens, and Intern and Paige deals with it.
Act 4-5
- Because of a certain incident, Paige concludes that a help from outside is needed. not knowing that new entrants are affected. Paige persuades Ian, and he manipulates the Core behind Edega's back to allow a small number of people to exit. (Originally the Core prevented the inhabitants from exiting the dungeon)
- Hailey is chosen, and Cole secretly follows along. They meet Miner and bring him back to the village, and through this, they learn that anyone who enter the dungeon are also affected.
- Separately from the Miner, Lucky also finds the portal entrance which opened in a peculiar location, and enters hoping to claim the honor of first discoverer. He also transforms.
